Extra Ob jects v1.1 for FS2002 and FS2004 User Documentation by Lars H¨yer o April 2005 1 Contents 1 Intro duction 3 2 Ob jects 3 3 Demo 3 4 Installation 4 5 Sp ecial Thanks 5 6 License 5 7 Contact 5 2 1 Intro duction Since I started working on scenery for FS I found that there is a great lack of realistic car ob jects. Most cars I found were not good looking and only available in the old macro format. That format has the disadvantage of taking up a lot of memory and CPU time if you place several copies of the same ob ject in your scenery. To work around all that I began to build my own car ob jects which all are stored in a more modern style bgl library. As my airport grew I also felt the need to clutter it up a little. Reality never looks as sterile as some scenery ;-) The simplest ob jects I could think of were some barrels and pallets. Ev- erything is designed to keep the hit on the frame rates as small as possible. So I kept all 3D ob jects simple and used photo real textures to add detail. This package includes all these ob jects and I'd like to share it with all freeware scenery designers out there so nobody has to invent the wheel all over again, so to speak, and can concentrate on their own scenery. 2 Ob jects Included in this package are the following types of ob jects: ˇ Cars ˇ Buses ˇ Trucks ˇ Barrels ˇ Pallets ˇ Power Lines 3 Demo I included a little demonstration scenery mainly for developers to see all the ob jects in action and it might also help users to see if everything was installed correctly. The demo is not required and you probably should only install it if you really need it. It's located at the terminal at Victoria Intl, Canada (CYYJ). 3 4 Installation If unsure you can simply use the installer. Just run it and it will do everything for you. If you don't like installers you can still install everything by hand. Simply copy the "Scenery" and "Texture" directories into the "FS9\Addon Scenery" directory. All other diretories do not concern you. If you install this scenery manually you must use the "Addon Scenery\Scenery" and "Addon Scenery\Texture" folders. This is to prevent conflicts b etween different ver- sions of the shared Extra Ob jects library. 4 5 Sp ecial Thanks My special thanks go to (in no particular order) Discreet for making `gmax' freely available. Irvin McIntyre for taking almost all of the car pictures for me. 6 License It is all for free. Do with it whatever you like as long as you don't make money with it. (That includes distributing it as part of any payware collection). If you're interested in any source files let me know and I'll send them to you. 7 Contact If you have questions, suggestions, or problems you can reach me at LarsHoyer@gmx.de . 5
